At Kennington Primary School, our motivation is to ensure that every child leaves our school with a love of maths.

In 2018, we began to follow a ‘Mastery’ approach to our mathematics teaching, where children are encouraged to represent their work in different ways, using resources or by drawing a picture to represent the maths that they are doing.

We want our children to become confident mathematicians who are able to not only complete calculations quickly and correctly, but who also understand and be able to explain the maths that they encounter every day.

Below are several documents that will support with homework, home learning and that can be used to further support your child as they move through our school.

There are also several videos where our children explain how to solve a problem and complete a calculation using the CPA approach (Concrete = resources, Pictoral = a picture and Abstract = simply writing the numbers).
