Communication Between Home and School

School’s main channel for communication is via Parent App Connect. This allows us to send out whole school communications, class and individual messages.

When parents wish to speak to a member of staff there are a number of ways this can be done. During drop off in a morning there should always be a Teaching Assistant on duty. Messages can be left with these members of staff if it is something like reading book issues, lost property, health issues etc.

If the matter is more serious then parents should briefly outline the issue so that the Teaching Assistant can pass on the message to the class teacher who will attempt to contact parents at a suitable time either during lunch or after school.

Parents can always contact school by telephoning the office and asking for a call back or an appointment to be made with the appropriate member of staff who can deal with their issue. Again, this would be the class teacher in most cases.

The office staff can help with administrative issues such as Parent Pay, Parent App, dinners, purchasing uniform etc. They will not be able to assist with such things as behaviour, classwork, homework, SEND, or friendship issues. These would be issues for the class teacher.

Wider school issues may be referred to a Key Stage Leader if the class teacher cannot resolve them or if you feel a satisfactory resolution was not achieved by the class teacher.

These could be issues around wider school organisation involving policy and procedures.

Much more serious issues would be handled by the deputy head teacher or head teacher. These might be bullying accusations, serious complaints or safeguarding matters.

If you are unsure, simply ask the office staff who the best person to speak to would be and they will put you in touch with the most appropriate staff member.
