After a hard fought 1 -1 draw including extra time and penalties, Kennington progressed to the semi final of the Harold Slater Shield. Our Lady and St. Edwards proved to be a tough opponent and scored the opening goal from a blistering shot from outside the box leaving Brennan, the Kennington keeper, with no chance of making a save. Kennington kept pluggging away with some good runs by Abbas down the left flank and some strong bursts up the middle by Frankie but Our ladies defence couldn't be broken. Changes were made at half time which proved positive with Idriss linking well with Ben but still there was no break through. Mr Jones made a bold move and brought Brennan out of the goal and up front replacing him with Ben. This turned out to be a stroke of genius as Brennan caused no end of problems for the opposition defence. Good pressure finally led to the break through with a lovely shot from Amaan bulging the back of the net. More pressure almost led to a second but the St. Edward's defence held strong. It was pretty much the same story in both halves of extra time with both sides coming close. 44 minutes of game time couldn't separate the two sides so it was to be decided on penalties. Some great shots from Michael, Amaan, Atif and Brennan and a fantastic save from the stand in keeper Ben ensured Kennington's place in the next round of the cup.
